- The first young Egyptian vulture in the air of Dadia forest
We are very happy to share the first observation of young Egyptian vulture while flying. On Sunday the 10th of August, the older chick flew from the nest which is monitored 5 days per week . Our volunteer Ana when she reached the view point to observe the nest called for help seeing that one from the two chicks was missing. Based on the experience from the past years when some chicks fell down from their nests, without delay we went towards the cliff, supported by Kiko and his "nose" in order to spot what could happen with the chick. We decided firstly to look below the cliff and then to move up. When we reached the top, Kiko tracked the smell and leaded us towards the roosting chick which immediately flew away. Now we are waiting for the younger sibling to fly and soar around the nest. From our experience this may come about five to seven days. Good luck in first air conquests!
